Big pushes are on by Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread and Target to hire permanent and seasonal workers in Colorado.
Denver-based Chipotle Mexican Grill will host its second annual National Career Day, hoping to hire 5,000 new employees nationwide. Last year, nearly 65,000 people signed up for interviews and offers were extended to 4,000 applicants.
Managers of each Chipotle store will hold open interviews for up to 100 applicants from 8 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 28. Interested candidates are asked to register for an interview by visiting Job interviews are taking place at all U.S. restaurants; applicants are invited to register online for an interview at nationalcareerday.com.
No experience is required to apply or be hired. The company says it bases hiring on 13 characteristics that suggest an applicant’s potential for success: being conscientious, respectful, hospitable, high energy, infectiously enthusiastic, happy, presentable, smart, polite, motivated, ambitious, curious and honest.
Chipotle said it currently employs more than 60,000 people and last year proposed more than 11,000 people from hourly crew into management roles. Panera Bread is looking to fill more than 200 full- and part-time positions in Denver, Colorado Springs and northern Colorado. The jobs include bakery and cafe managers, customer service associates and bakers. A company spokeswoman said sales associate wages range from $8.30 to $11.50 per hour, depending on experience and length of employment.

Target is ramping up for the holiday season, seeking more than 70,000 workers for its 1,800 stores and another 7,500 workers for its distribution and fulfillment centers. Details are available at jobs.target.com.
The company hired 2,000 seasonal workers in Colorado last year.
This year, Target will hold hiring events at all of its stores. Applicants are encouraged to drop in between noon and 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 15 to meet team members and learn about available jobs. The company said to come prepared — there may be opportunities to interview on the spot. Target also is accepting applications for seasonal workers online right now.
