Egypt’s chemicals and fertilisers exports during the first ten months (10M) of 2020 registered $4.165 billion decreasing by 11 percent compared to $4.673 billion last year, according to the Chemical Industries Export Council released on Thursday.
The council reviewed a report by the General Authority for Export and Import Control which revealed a 4 percent decline in growth of total Egyptian exports during the period from January to October 2020.
The report noted that the volume of Egyptian exports of these products reached $21.558 billion, a compared to about $22.4 billion during the same period of the previous year.
The plastic and rubber products ranked as the foremost exported items from Egypt, with exports amounting to $1.478 billion, whilst fertilisers came in second place, with exports amounting to $1.147 billion. Carton and paper products ranked in third place among Egyptian exports, with exports amounting to $408.65 million.
Turkey came first in the list of countries that received Egyptian exports of chemical industries, with the volume of these exports reaching about $607.68 million. India jumped to second place with total imports from Egypt worth $270 million, followed by Italy with $224 million.
