The African Union (AU) today urged international actors to resume efforts to implement a plan guaranteeing stability, territorial integrity and security in Libya.
According to a statement from the AU Commission, more effective measures must be taken to end the context of imbalance in the North African country, which in turn has serious regional repercussions.
The call came from the AU Peace and Security Council, which also stressed the relevance of mechanisms aimed at restoring minimum living conditions for the populations affected by the conflict in South Sudan and Somalia.
The two countries are experiencing a climate of despair as a result of the war and multiple climatic challenges that have converged in recent years, said the entity.
We will continue to support the transition plans in Somali territory, but the contribution of the United Nations to the financing of the AU mission is important, the statement concluded.
