The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards take place Sunday, August 27 at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Today, MTV has announced that Katy Perry will host the show. It’s the first time since 2015 that the VMAs will have a formal host. (Miley Cyrus handled the responsibilities that year.) “I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson,” Perry said in a press release.
Along with hosting duties, Perry is up for six awards. Her latest studio album, *Witness*, came out in June.
