[fm]: Samsung Now Officially Taking Preorders For Its Galaxy Tab A 10.1 In The US

Samsung's budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A 10.1 tablet is officially available for preorder in the United States, straight from the manufacturer.

The slate has been expected for a couple of months now, as Samsung first introduced its Galaxy Tab A 10.1 back in May. At the time, the tablet was set to launch in Germany, with no word on a U.S. launch.

Fast forward to present date and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is now officially available for preorder in the United States straight from Samsung, sporting a $299.99 price tag. The company is also throwing in free shipping and promises to deliver the tablet in seven to 10 business days.

For those unfamiliar with the tablet's specifications, here's what it has to offer. The 10.1 inch display has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, which translates to a pixel density of 224 pixels per inch (ppi). Under the hood, the slate houses an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, paired with Mali-T830 MP2 graphics and 2 GB of RAM.

Other specs of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 include 16 GB of native storage, microSD support for up to 200 GB of external storage and a large 7,300 mAh battery to keep everything going. Also on board are an 8-megapixel main camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front shooter. On the software front, the tablet runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

"Built with the quality you've come to expect from Samsung, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1″, featuring a beautiful vibrant display and the latest Android OS, gives you just what you need for your personal entertainment," Samsung boasts. "With a long-lasting battery and powerful processor, you can browse online or stream your favorite shows. With expandable memory, keep all of your favorite moments with you. Galaxy Tab A 10.1″. Your perfect everyday companion."

It's worth pointing out that Samsung is currently taking preorders for the Wi-Fi-only version of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 in the United States, with no word on whether it will add the 4G LTE-enabled model later on. The Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is available in black or white color options.

All in all, the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab A may not rock the most advanced specs or features, but it does pack a punch and should deliver a more than decent performance without breaking the bank. On the other hand, other Android tablets such as the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2, for instance, boast superior specs at a lower price point.
