[fm]: BlackBerry DTEK50 is the ‘world’s most secure Android smartphone,’ up for pre-order at 299 USD

Following up on leaks and rumors regarding the BlackBerry “Neon”, BlackBerry has today officially announced its latest smartphone, the DTEK50. As the company’s second Android smartphone, this device brings a new design with a smaller form factor and no physical keyboard…

After seeing slow sales with the BlackBerry PRIV through 2015 and early 2016, BlackBerry has put its focus toward the mid-range sector with the DTEK50, offering solid performance and power, but with a price of just $299 USD. The DTEK50 packs a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Just like the BlackBerry PRIV, the DTEK50 is pre-loaded with BlackBerry features such as BlackBerry Messenger, BlackBerry Hub, and more. Along with all of that you’ll also get improved security on this device. BlackBerry claims the DTEK50 is the “most secure Android smartphone” with enhancements to the OS as well as a secure boot process. The device will also be getting monthly security patches.

The DTEK50 is available now for pre-order in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. Pricing lands at $299 USD and for a limited time pre-orders will come with a free battery bank.
