After launching on PC and for Oculus Rift earlier this year, self-proclaimed first-person experience game ADR1FT, is finally making its way to PS4. And best of all, its coming sooner than you’d expect, set to release July 15.
Heavily inspired by the emotions creator Adam Orth went through after being fired from Microsoft due to a single tweet concerning the Xbox One’s original online-only structure, ADR1FT styles itself as a very different type of game. “ADR1FT is hard to categorize,” Orth explains in a post on developer Three One Zero’s website.
“ADR1FT is a non-violent, narrative-driven FPX (first-person experience) where the focus is exploration, environment, narrative and light game mechanics. Our small independent team is made up of veteran AAA game developers. We’ve collectively worked on many AAA shooters, so the idea of making a non-violent FPX was something really exciting to us…”
Simply put, the game tells “the story of Commander Alex Oshima who wakes up floating amongst the debris of the destroyed Northstar IV space station with no memory of who she is, no memory of the catastrophic event that took the lives of her crew and a badly damaged EVA suit slowly leaking oxygen… As the only survivor, your goals in ADR1FT are simply to stay alive and get home safely.”
The PS4 trailer below showcases the game’s stunning visuals, along with announcing the release date. After releasing on PC with Oculus Rift support in March, the game also received support for the HTC Vive in May. While it’s likely there will be a PSVR version, there’s still no solid confirmation.
