U.S. stock futures pointed lower Monday while global markets were uneven.

Here’s where stock futures stood ahead of the opening bell:

Dow Jones: -0.3%

S&P 500: -0.4%

Nasdaq:  -0.3%

Chinese stocks fell Monday after a weak manufacturing report while Japan extended gains following its central bank’s introduction of a negative interest rate policy to boost lending and spur growth.

The Shanghai composite index fell 1.8% to close at 2,688.85 and Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 2% to finish at 17,865.23. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index lost 0.5% to end at 19,595.50 points.

European shares were lower Monday. Germany’s DAX index was down 0.6%, France’s CAC 40 also lost 0.6% and Britain’s FTSE 100 was 0.3% lower.

U.S. stock markets posted their biggest gains in about five months on Friday, but ended January with losses.
